Daily Bread Nov. 16, 2012 – Heavenly Affections

Salutations to all. Bless the Lord who is abundant patience. His mercy endureth forever. But we must not take advantage of His mercy because the wrath of God is coming on the children of disobedience(Colossians 3:6) and unto those who find pleasure in ungodliness(Romans 1:32). Let us be thankful to God For His mercy and be obedient to His voice(The Word of God) so that we can live. Today’s scripture is from Colossians:

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2

We should always have our minds on heavenly things because “the things that are seen are temporal, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18)” We shouldn’t try to lay up treasures for this world. The degrees, houses, cars and clothing will all past away. If we hold onto them and forsake Christ, we will burn with them; we’d  just be more fuel for the fire.  Clinging onto these things would be vanity because nothing last in this world, plus when we die, we can’t take them with us, but one thing is sure and stands forever, that is Christ Jesus (Hebrews 13:8John 5:24). Everything that we need the Lord will provide for us as a Father provides for His children but we must seek His kingdom first and His righteous (Matthew 6:33). Our heart must always be heaven-ward because where our treasure is, there will our hearts be also (Matthew 6:21).
