Praise Jesus we are alive to see yet another day! Not many are able to say this, or experience today, but you who are reading this have the privilege. So praise Jesus! Today’s scripture comes to us from Obadiah:

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Obadiah verse 3

Have you ever heard the saying: pride comes before a mighty fall? Well, indeed it does. Think back to Lucifer. He was glorious in heaven, a great singer, and well known amongst all the angels, but a little bit of self got in the way and it became an issue of pride. “I can do this better!!”, “I am greater than God”, “I don’t need to serve and worship, I am to be worshiped for how good I am at ‘xyz’ ” are all things that Lucifer might have said prior to him being cast out of heaven. This verse in Obadiah serves to remind us, never let out pride and proud spirit get in the way of serving Jesus. Once any bit of self is in the fore-front, then Jesus isn’t really shining through us, instead what we need to do is, when we recognize ourselves beginning to sound like Lucifer with many I-statements and many thoughts of grandeur about ourselves, just remember this: we are the servants and God is the creator and Master. Jesus has called us to humbly do His biddings on this earth, the same way while He was here he did His father’s work in humility. God bless us all to become more humble, Amen.
