Hi friends, Blessings to you all. I pray as we dive into the first official installment of the new Jesus Saves series you and I will be blessed alike. This post is about channeling, and what the Bible has to say about such things. Before I get into what the Bible says about it, let’s take a look at what man professes channeling to be, and how it’s become a seemingly integral part in today’s society. I must warn you from now, this post is going to be intensive and long, but it will cover all aspects of the matter, in an effort to bring to light, the TRUTH!! Dare to carry on?
Channeling.
What is it? According to Wikipedia, it’s a form of Mediumship which is defined as: a mediated communication between spirits of the dead and other human beings. Basically, in channeling, you are able to connect with the dead, have a chat with them and speak as though you are speaking to the person right in front of you. The definition on wikipedia, further continues to say, no scientific evidence supports this connection between life and death, and that there are several different variants of mediumship; the best known forms are where a spirit takes control of a medium’s voice and uses it to relay a message, or where the medium simply ‘hears’ the message and passes it on. Other forms involve manifestations of the spirit, such as apparitions or the presence of a voice, and telekinetic activity.
Clarifying terms:
- Christian – a person who lives by the Word of God wholeheartedly and seeks only to do God’s will (and the Word of God is Jesus Himself, as in 1 John 1:14 we are told the Word became flesh!)
- Demon: work closely with Satan the Devil himself to deceive and perpetrate lies. They will take any situation and make it work for their pleasure, despite how innocently it started
- Satan/devil: was once an angel in heaven named Lucifer, but after his own pride and selfishness, he was cast out and took with him 1/3 of heaven’s angels {see Revelation 12:4} (who are his demons). His main purpose is to deceive, to destroy and to kill {see John 10:10}. He often operates by giving you your hearts desires then taking everything away from you and laughing at you. His main mission is to turn people away from Jesus! by having you worship him, and not the True and Living God!
Ok, back to the post. The art of channeling, if it can even be qualified as such, has become a popular practice amongst many Christians and Non-Christians alike in our world today. Why? Most people can not let go of death or can not find closure, and to fill a gap they seek to communicate with the deceased. Imagine, it must be cool to communicate with dead folks, they can tell us everything! Right? Very wrong. As you probably had guessed, this post was not going to be in favor of channeling, but why? Well simple, the Bible does not support it at all. I’ll be pointing out much texts to prove this statement. Before I do, I’m sure you’re wondering what sparked my interest to write this post on speaking to the dead. Well, I will gladly tell you.
